‘”I have worked with Guy in an editorial capacity on many occasions. As Editor of Nursing and Residential Care I have found his articles well-written and informative. I can always rely on Guy to submit high standard content on time, every time. He has an extensive knowledge of telecare and related technologies, and the benefits these can bring to the older person. He is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to collaborating with him again soon.

“I have enjoyed a positive working relationship with Guy with regard to telecare and the broader range of assistive technology. His excellent strategic and practical knowledge builds on a perspective that is strongly (and correctly) concerned with the engagement and empowerment of service users.”

I worked with Guy when I was the Assistant Director for Older Peoples’ Mental Health services in Barnet. Guy was leading on the Telecare project for Barnet Local Authority. I found Guy to have an excellent understanding of Telecare and the benefits it could bring to many older people. From what I observed, Guy was also focused, hard working and extremely pleasant. I liked his open manner and patience, and how he stayed tenacious and kept to his goal despite facing the inevitable challenges that come along when trying to implement such an ambitious project

Guy and myself worked together on the design of some of the earliest smart homes in the UK, whilst collaborating on the CUSTODIAN project, where I learned a great deal from him. Our paths have crossed professionally on a number of occasions since then, and we have generally kept in contact, and I am very appreciative of the professional support that Guy has selflessly given me when I have sought it. Guy has an usual background for his role in telecare and smart home technology that gives him a unique insight into this field, particularly his valuable work on dependability of systems. His track record in delivering successful, real-life solutions speaks for itself. He is a person of great integrity and commitment, who is not afraid to knock over the occasional sacred cow, in his quest to further the effective and appropriate use of technology to support independent living. I am happy to recommend him, unequivocally, as both a colleague and a friend.”

“Guy Dewsbury has been long time contributing successfully to research of home support systems, assistive technologies and dependability for the benefit of frail users. In this field we have a continuous and fruitful cooperation, also for my research commitment in the smart homes and accessible built environments, that brought up mainly to: – a co-authored paper for the CIB General Congress (BIOCCA, L., DEWSBURY, G. (2004) Housing and Technologies in the EU for promoting Quality of Life, CIB World Building Congress 2004, Toronto, Canada, CD Proceedings, May); – an exchange on research developments in our complementary fields and involvement in conferences, workshops and initiatives with common stakeholders in Italy and UK; – online teachers of the Master in Assistive Technologies at the Trieste University (2004, 2005). Moreover, Guy gives his precious contribution to my institute as paper reviewer for our periodical CIB Meetings. Further, we aim to build up a network of potential partners for applying to EU funded research calls of our interest.”
